Comcast to Xfinity: Rebranding Success or Failure?

In the near future, Comcast is rebranding its digital services to the name xfinity.  Many have said that the name reminds them of a porn company, obviously not something Comcast would want to achieve.  Time has posted an article about the name change and the reaction from society.  Also interesting is Time’s list of the Top 10 worst Rebrands of all time.

When Logos Go Small

We have all seen logos on billboards, in Times Square, plastered on the sides of buildings these are the logos that are hard to miss, they scream for attention and compete with the other big boys on the block for your attention.  But if you think that bigger is the way to go, you would be surprised.

This posts illustrates the importance of planning ahead when it comes to logo design.  When it comes down to it, you really don’t know where a logo will be used.  An old phrase I like is; prepare for the worst hope for the best and it applies to logo design.  When designing a logo it is imperative to keep in mind that the logo you are working on might find its way onto a pen, or on the side of a CD case, you never know.  Be sure to ask your clients where it will be used.  The last thing you want is a client coming back to you over and over again because the logo you designed doesn’t adapt well.

After a few minutes of looking around I found some really tiny logos, and they still have the same effect when they are smaller than a dime as when they are on the side of a building.
